Access and Eligibility

Come as you are.

Accessing our services

Your GP or other health practitioner can refer you to us, or you can self-refer. Starting a conversation about an issue requiring counselling can be difficult. If you don’t already have a regular GP, you should look for one that has an interest in mental health and who is known for providing support, assessment, ongoing care and referrals to other mental health practitioners/services.

Tell your doctor about your concerns, any symptoms you are experiencing, and how these are affecting your life. You might like to take a trusted family member or friend along for support. Remember to ask questions and take notes. You can specifically ask your doctor to refer you to counsellor.

The average waiting time to be seen by one of our counsellors is 5 to 10 working days. If demand for counselling services rises at any given time, you may be asked to attend an intake session, where one of our counsellors will go over your case on a triage approach.
